About the Artist

Margo Cloniger is a weaver and end-of-life doula based in Nashville, TN. She is the founder of Psychopomp Studios, where she explores grief and praise through handwoven textiles and heart-centered death care. As an end-of-life doula and a graduate of the Conscious Dying Collective's End-of-Life Doula Program, Margo provides a compassionate space for conversations about death and grief, guiding others through these tender experiences with understanding and care.

Her journey into weaving was inspired by a lifelong love of fiber arts and a desire to create with her hands, which deepened into a profound grief practice following the death of her father. Embracing the meditative solitude of weaving, Margo creates pieces that bring joy to everyday life and honor life’s transitions. Her husband affectionately calls her work “weaving and grieving,” reflecting how the rhythmic clinking of the heddles helps her navigate and befriend her grief.

Margo’s woven textiles include colorful cotton tea towels that celebrate the beauty in ordinary spaces and 100% cotton burial shrouds designed for use in green burial practices. She also crafts custom weavings for other transitional and liminal experiences, providing comfort and connection through her art.

Margo attended Guilford College and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, earning a degree in Sociology and African Studies. She has participated in weaving workshops through the Handweavers Guild of Nashville and the John C. Campbell Folk School. As a mother of three, she remains curious, committed, and passionate about experiencing the awe and wonder in life, continually inspired by the natural world around her. Margo, her husband, their three children, and their dog, Jelly, live in Nashville, Tennessee. When not weaving or spending time with family, Margo enjoys creative writing and poetry, walking slowly, playing cards, creek walks and centering prayer. In every aspect of her work and life, Margo strives to create meaningful connections and bring a sense of peace and beauty to the lives of those she touches.
